Sumario: In a method for the determination of airborne concentrations of oil mist, carbon tetrachloride is used as a solvent in wich to introduce the samples into a u.v. spectrophotometer. Special precautions have to be taken when handling this highly toxic solvent. The use of an alternative solvent, 1,1,2-trichlorotrifluoroethane, which is of much lower toxicity, has therefore been examined and found to have advantages
