<subfield code="a">A study of the atmospheric sampling of the haloforms trichloromethane, bromodichloromethane and tribromomethane is presented. Under conditions of high humidity the efficiency with which the haloforms can be collected on activated carbon is both poor and irreproducible. Desiccation of the atmosphere with sodium hydroxide effectively improves sampling efficiency without significant haloform loss and can be readly applied to field sampling. The performance of charcoal sampling tubes under a range of conditions is investigated and suitable conditions for the collection and analysis of chlorinated and brominated haloforms are described</subfield>
