Sumario: The Vickers M88 rapid asbestos fibre counter was assessed by several laboratories each using a prototype of the instrument and with membrane filter samples provided from a variety of industrial situations. The M88 evaluations of fibre density showed a very good correlation with visual counts for textile samples and good relation for brake lining dust samples, although with a markedly different calibration factor
