<abstract displayLabel="Summary">This paper describes investigations of the performances of a number of commercially avaible personal samplers (of the type recommended for the sampling of total dust) as well as some investigational prototypes. The aim was to examine how well these devices sample the inspirable fraction or airborne dust. The paper then goes on to describe the development of a new improved prototype personal inspirable dust sampler</abstract>
