Sumario: Prior to 1984 the Health and Safety Executive used the Threshold Limit Values (TLVs) published by the American Conference pf Governmental Industrial Hygienists as the basis for their Guidance Note EH15 on occupational exposure limits. A condition of the publication of TLVs was that they could not be altered in any way. This created difficulties concerning some of the different philosophies of standard setting and exposure limit values which were thought to be more applicable in Great Britain
