<subfield code="a">Standardization of data for exposure measurements facilitates the meaningful compilation and comparison of information from industry and makes technically compatible data available for the Health and Safety Executives National Exposure Database. This paper describes the type of data to be recorded, methods of assuring adequate quality and the organization of data to enable computer files to be transferred between computers. The question of confidentiality for suppliers of data to the National Exposure Database is discussed. A standard proforma and guide to be used irrespective of whether data are to be entered into a computer database is suggested for universal application</subfield>
