<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En el contexto del mercado único, es deseable la armonización si constituye un factor de igualdad de las compensaciones de los responsables potenciales y, sobre todo, si sitúa a las víctimas europeas, sometidas a la ley del lugar del accidente, el abrigo de las sorpresas derivadas de un diferencial excesivamente notable entre las condiciones de indemnización de su país y las del país visitado. Pero por conveniente que sea, esa armonización no debe efectuarse a cualquier precio. No debe convertirse en un movimiento anárquico e incontrolado de armonización a los niveles de indemnización más elevados a costa de poner en peligro los equilibrios económicos de los países más ricos provocando el enriquecimiento indebido de ciertas víctimas respecto de sus conciudadanos y haciendo que el precio del seguro de responsabilidad resulte inabordable para la mayor parte de los ciudadanos</abstract>
