520  ‎$a‎The present study investigates the interactions between the air traffic controllers objective workload and their physiological and psychological stress reactions. As an indicator of objective workload, a combined index was computed, consisting of the average number of aircraft to be controlled, number of radio-communications, and duration of radio-communications measured during successive 10 min intervals. The psicological indicator of workload was evaluated by measuring salivary cortisol concentration before and after a working session of about 10 min. Psychological aspects of workload were assessed with a validated questionnaire
