Sumario: Occupational hazards affecting veterinarians can be summarized in the following general categories: physical hazards, such as radiation and physical trauma; zoonoses; chemicals; and drugs. This article focuses on selected hazards of particular interest and importance to veterinarians in general, with special reference to female veterinarians and paraprofessionals. Strategies to protect veterinary practitioners and other veterinary personnel are discussed
