Sumario: Large individual differences in the ability to diagnose novel system failures are often noted in the research literature. Recent evidence suggest that measures of reflective cognitive styles may be good predictors of fault diagnosis performance. In this paper two experiments are described that are concerned with the development, identification and prediction of effective strategies amongst novice problems solvers
