Sumario: A substantial proportion of worlwide asbestos production has been and continues to be utilized by the asbestos-cement sector of the industry in the manufacture of a wide variety of construction products. Worker exposures have most often been to mixed asbestos fibres, usually chrysotile and crocidolite, but also amosite. Fourteen cohorts of asbestos-cement workers have been studied. These studies have demonstrated exposure-response relationships for lung cancer, mesothelioma and asbestosis
