<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La psicología de las masas es un tema muy antiguo. Según el autor, algunos acontecimientos ocurridos en los últimos tiempos, como la tragedia del estadio de Heysel, han hecho que el asunto recobre actualidad. En opinión de Manuel Alvarez, se puede decir que las masas son un fenómeno plástico, dinámico, cuyos movimientos de conversión tienden a ir de arriba abajo, es decir, lo activo se convierte en pasivo, y lo pasivo en activo. Toda masa pasiva es potencialmente activa... Las medidas de control deben tener en cuenta que cualquier auditorio puede convertirse en una turba, a veces por un mensaje inadecuadamente formulado</abstract>
