<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The financial impact of workers-compensation fraud in the United States is difficult to calculate. Employers aren't eager to post loss numbers publicly, nor is the line between pure fraud and lesser forms of abuse well-defined. When someone claims a back injury and is spotted playing softball, it is clearly fraud. On the other hand, is it criminal activity when a clerk with a carpal tunnel problem stays out for an extra couple of days? Most fraud cases fall into this vague "abuse" category</abstract>
