<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Upgrading doors of the main problems when considering this type of building since the weak links in any fire compartment scheme are usually service penetrations and doors. The heritage oak doors within the Palace of Westminster vary considerably in terms of age, style and heritage importance. There is no one typical door within the building and because of this each door has to be assessed on its merits. The only common feature of the doors is that many would not achieve the required fire resistance because of the construction and thickness of the elements used</abstract>
