Sumario: The grocery industry is typical of many industries in another way, too: back traumas are the most common and expensive injuries suffered by its workers. What sets grocery chains apart, however, is the bottom line. This fiercely competitive industry considers a 1-percent profit margin healthy. Some companies use them as an incentive to establish aggressive back-injury prevention programs. Less-enlightened companies, however, use the bottom line as an excuse to justify the problem of back injuries, not eliminate it
