<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La instalación de una línea de alta tensión entre Europa y Africa, a través del Estrecho, se ha topado con la oposición frontal de una parte de la población de Tarifa y zonas aledañas, por razones básicamente relacionadas con la supuesta peligrosidad de ese tipo de instalaciones. Y no tanto por la alta tensión en si misma y el posible riesgo de electrocución en caso de accidente sino por los daños que los campos electromagnéticos engendrados por la corriente eléctrica pudieran infligir a la población. Informes alarmistas de fuentes nunca bien identificadas relacionan dichos campos electromagnéticos con un aumento alarmante de casos de cáncer y leucemia</abstract>
