Two methodological features were included to clarify and extend early research: first, testing was not conducted during the illness as this might lead to poor performance transferring to subsequent test sessions. Second, a range of mental functions was examined to determine whether similar or different effects to those apparent when the person is symptomatic are observed after the illness</subfield>
