Título: Constructing scientific authrorities : issue framing of chlorinated disinfection byproducts in public health / S. Michelle Driedger... [et al]
Notas: This article presents a case study of mandated science in action by examining the science agenda regarding chlorinated disinfection by products (CDBP) and cancer in Canada and United States, focusing on the social construction of scientific knowledge claims evidence. Results of the analysis suggest that toxicological scientist want to close the door on the chloroform issues due to increasing evidence that chloroform is safe at low doses, because epidemiological scientists can no longer move forward the cancer science until significant improvements can be made in assessing human exposures, and because the scientific foci of research on DBP have shifted accordingly. The authors suggest this tension reflects a balance of how uncertainty and authorities are managed in a mandated science-policy domainRegistros relacionados: En: Risk analysis : an international journal. - New York and London : Society for Risk Analysis. - Vol. 22, nº 4, August, 2002 ; p. 789-802Materia / lugar / evento: Cáncer Cloro Toxicología Análisis de riesgos Evaluación de riesgos Valoración de riesgos Seguro de enfermedad Salud Métodos de análisis Estados Unidos Canadá Otros autores: Driedger, Michelle S.
