<abstract>L'amiante est interdit depuis le 1er janvier 1997. A l'époque, un martèlement médiatique sans précédent entoure l'émergence de ce problème majeur de santé publique et de santé au travail. La protection contre les hautes températures est toutefois une nécessité. Parmi les solutions envisagées, les fibres céramiques réfraictaires aujourd'hui inquiètent. Largement utilisées pour de applications d'isolation thermique, elles sont classées cancérogènes de catégories 2 par les instances européennes. A ce titre, le décret 2001-97 du 1er février 2001 relatif aux règles de prévention des risques cancérogènes, mutagènes ou toxiques pour la reproduction doit s'appliquer. Quinze mille à vingt mille salariés seraient exposés en France</abstract>
