<abstract>Según las estadísticas de Swiss Re, a nivel mundial se registraron el pasado año 2005 149 catástrofes naturales y 248 grandes siniestros provocados por el hombre. Supone 65 más que en 2004, lo que confirma la preocupante tendencia a la proliferación de este tipo de siniestros. Se incluye el cuadro de las diez mayores catástrofes en 2005 por número de víctimas y por volumen de daños asegurados</abstract>
