<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Organized in three major sections: "Cities," "Communities," and "Artists and Models," and with no ambition to propose a historical or encyclopedic reading, through them we move through space and time recognizing influences and pointing out significant parallels between artists, in a time span that goes from 1916 to 2013. While the criterion of the present selection, which has involved the inclusion of two hundred photographs by twenty-three authors, favors the vitality of the whole over individual achievements, the broad period displayed here pulses with the breath and depth of the best works by each of them. Each artist is represented with a sufficient number of works to coherently understand his or her career</abstract>
