<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Maritime shipping volumes are robust, with port container traffic up by 6.6% yoy in the year to August 2024. Yet geopolitical risk poses a threat, as higher trade tensions could impact volumes and demand ahead. Despite wars and trade tensions, marine insurers have the tools to weather risks. Marine insurers may also benefit from higher demand stemming from the transition to low-carbon fuels, which at present are only used by 6% of the shipping fleet</abstract>
