520  ‎$a‎Investigations conducted in many countries reported an excess of mortality from lung cancer among iron ore miners. Only a few studies showed an increased risk of stomach cancer. Iron ore miners are exposed to several occupational hazards but these were generally not measured in detail. As in uranium mines, some authors attributed much of the risk of lung cancer to radon daughters even if the dose was low. Other investigators however, suspected dust and other hazards
