<abstract>As the above quote from the National Science Foundation suggests, the 21st-century science of nanotechnology has possibilities only limited by one's imagination. Nanotechnology, which refers to the manipulation of materials at the atomic and molecular level, could allow scientists to create almost anything from sunscreens to the smallest. The potential is so vast that the National Science Foundation estimates that worldwide revenues from nanotechnology-based products and innovations in areas such as materials, electronics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, healthcare and sustainability will exceed </abstract>
