<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Para que el sector agropecuario se consolide como una locomotora que jalone el crecimiento de la economía colombiana, tal como lo plantea el gobierno Santos, es necesario que los interesados en el mismo, es decir el sector público y los productores, apliquen herramientas técnicamente acertadas, que disminuyan o mitiguen los riesgos de productividad. Una de estas herramientas es el seguro. Es claro que el sector agropecuario en Colombia tiene potencial de generar valor agregado a la nación. Según las cifras del DANE, el sector tiene una buena representación del PIB, cerca del 7%, genera empleo para el 64% de la población rural y representa aproximadamente el 12% del monto de las exportaciones. Sin embargo, se encuentra expuesto a riesgos naturales, económicos, comerciales, sociales y geopolíticos, que no han dejado que este sector desarrolle todo su potencial</abstract>
