<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The analysis suggests that the global economic potential for total installed solar PV, that is, the amount of PV that could be operated at a lower levelized cost for energy than competing sources, could exceed a terawatt by 2020. However, given the barriers to implementation, such as possible changes to the regulatory environment and access to finance, we expect installed capacity to increase to between 400 and 600 GW by 2020</abstract>
