<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Le rísque opérationnel est un risque subi et polymorphe, dont les sinistres peuvent être catastrophiques pour une banque comme pour une compagnie d'assurance. C'est pourquoi les réglementations Bâle II, Bâle III et Solvabilité II imposent des normes sévères quant aux montants des capitaux propres des banques ou des assurances. L'analyse des 52 sinistres d'origine opérationnelle d'une banque internationale, subis au cours de la période 1994-2004, montre que la value-at-risk au seuil de 99,9 %, imposée par la réglementation, dépasse 11 milliards de dollars. Cet article étudie la possibilité de mettre en place une assurance du risque opérationnel limítée aux tranches élevées, comprises entre 1 míllíard et 11 milliards de dollars, sachant que, dans l'état actuel du marché de l'assurance, le risque opérationnel n'est couvert par aucune police particulière</abstract>
