<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The mathematical modeling area of Risk Analysis has seen tremendous growth over recent years in the number and scope of articles submitted and published. The area is a relatively new one for the journal, and yet is now the second largest area (after risk perception and communication) in number of articles submitted per year. Yet, our acceptance rate is one of the lowest. This note explains key characteristics that we look for in articles in the mathematical modeling area</abstract>
