<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Este trabajo tiene como propósito realizar una revisión del apartado de riesgo catastrófico que aparece en el cálculo del capital de solvencia requerido del Pilar I de Solvencia II. En dicho apartado, la fórmula estándar prescribe calcular la carga correspondiente a los peligros naturales, y también por riesgos causados por el hombre, llamados riesgos antropogénicos. Debido a la protección catastrófica del Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros, para el sector asegurador español esta cobertura representa un nuevo concepto, la introducción de cargas de capital elevadas y una necesidad de enfocar los riesgos suscritos desde un punto de vista de agregaciones. Se resumirá el Pilar I de Solvencia II y el camino llevado para entender las catástrofes antropógenas, analizando su problemática, y encontrando en el reaseguro una alternativa factible para su mitigación.</abstract>
