<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Die Versicherungswirtschaft trägt erhebliche Verantwortung für die Absicherung der Menschen im Alter. Zuletzt bestanden 88,3 Millionen Verträge bei Lebensversicherungsunternehmen, Pensionskassen und Pensionsfonds. Rentenversicherungen haben mit rund 42 Millionen Verträgen eine große Bedeutung erlangt (plus 1,4 Prozent). Eine stabile, umlagefinanzierte gesetzliche Rente braucht ergänzend ein lebenslanges Alterseinkommen aus kapitalgedeckter Vorsorge. Insgesamt leistet die Versicherungswirtschaft damit einen erheblichen Beitrag zur Verbreitung dieser ergänzenden Vorsorge. </abstract>
