<subfield code="a">To bring Europe's aviation industry in line with our climate goals, binding measures have to go hand in hand with a smarter approach to corporate travel. That is the key finding of T&E's revised Roadmap to Decarbonising European Aviation, which we are publishing at a crucial time for the aviation industry as it struggles to address its ongoing climate problem. That problem needs only a few facts and figures to underline its seriousness. Aviation traffic in Europe grew 67% between 2005 and 2019 and its emissions by 24% (see Fig. E.1), meaning they now represent 4.9% of the bloc's pre-Covid total [1].And that just covers the CO2 effects - more on the non-CO2effects below. The climate problem of flying is very much a wealthy European one - if everyone on earth flew like the wealthiest 10% of Europeans do, aviation would emit 23 GtCO2 per year, two thirds of global CO2 emissions in 2019.</subfield>
