Stop-loss premium growth generally remained positive following the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010. Although favorable trends preceded passage of the ACA, the law likely accelerated shifts to self-insuring, boosting stop-loss enrollment.</abstract>
