Sumario: This report, Financing Clean Energy in Africa, digs deeper into the opportunities and barriers facing investors in clean energy and infrastructure across the continent. It explores both the financing needs for different elements of the energy sector (Chapter 2) and the types of finance available (Chapter 3). In doing so, it reveals fundamental mismatches within the current system that are preventing adequate financial flows reaching clean energy projects in Africa. Project developers often find capital to be too expensive and with unworkable terms, while on the finance supply side, investors find many clean energy projects on the continent to be too small or risky. This report uses case studies to demonstrate how these obstacles can be overcome
