Exposure to injury off the job is almost double the time of exposure on the job. The costs, even for a single accident, can be astronomical. From safety-management perspective, off-the-job and work injuries are similar. They result from unsafe conditions or unsafe acts, or both. Companies can use similar means to prevent both types.
