<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Las campañas Previmet Mediterráneo tiene como objetivo básico lograr una adecuada coordinación operativa entre el Instituto Nacional de Meteorología (INM) y la Dirección General de Protección Civil (DGPC) en lo que respecta a la predicción, vigilancia y seguimiento de episodios de lluvias intensas en el área meditarránea durante la época del año en que éstas son más frecuentes. Durante estas campañas, el INM potencia sus actividades técnicas y operativas y les otorga una prioridad máxima. La experiencia acumulada en anteriores campañas y el creciente conocimiento científico sobre la naturaleza de estos fenómenos atmosféricos, aconsejó introducir algunos cambios significativos en la campaña del año pasado fundamentalmente en lo referido a la definición de las situaciones meteorológicas operativas. La experiencia acumulada y la previsible introducción durante 1994/95 del nuevo Plan Nacional de Predicción y Aviso de Fenómenos Atmosféricos Adversos que englobará los fenómenos y actividades contemplados en los planes Previmet han aconsejado no efectuar ninguna modificación en este aspecto. Unicamentee, y teniendo en cuenta la importancia que para las actividades de Protección Civil representa la mayor precisión sobre la localización concreta y probabilidad de evolución de la situación, se ha potenciado la utilización de las notas aclaratorias para facilitar una mayor precisión en las ocasiones en que ello pudiera ser posible</abstract>
