Sumario: On 10 July 1976, a runaway reaction during the production of trichlorophenol in a plant in Seveso, ICSEMA (Italy), resulted in the discharge of products containing TCDD (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin) over an area of about 2.8 km2.
