520  ‎$a‎Workers making polythene (polyethylene) bags were found to be exposed to fumes from the degradation of polythene at an average particulate concentration of around 0,6 mg m -3 for 40h per week. Lung function tests did not differentiale workers regularly exposed to fumes for several years from unexposed workers, nor did pre- and post-shift ventilatory function tests. However, the exposed workers reported a number of symptoms such sore eyes, nasal irritation, sneezing, headaches, dry throat, nausea, coughing, wheezing, breathlessness, chest-tightness, skin irritation, cold sores and "influenza" wich they related solely to the presence of fumes in their workroom
