<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Full velocity profiles have been measured around local exhaust ventilation hoods and slots, up to an aspect ratio of 16.1, with the devices freely suspended and when resting on a plane surface. It is shown how a nomogram previously presented to give centreline velocities in front of freely suspended hoods can be used to predict velocity in the presence of a plane</abstract>
