<abstract displayLabel="Summary">An assessment is made of a modification to the acetone/triacetin clearing tecnique which shortens the time required to estimate asbestos fibre concentrations when using the membrane filter method. The modified technique, which is described in the Asbestos International Association reference method but not referred to in the equivalent Australian code, is found to provide acceptable results with no loss of accuracy</abstract>
