<dc:description xml:lang="es">Sumario: The protection of the workplace and extra-workplace envoronment is a responsability of all engineers. In some locations this insolves consistent compliance with a variety of environmental, health and safety rules and regulations. The achievement of the goals is difficult at the design stage but possible. One approach for early application of engineering controls is the use of modelling and another is the use of guidelines. A marriage of these approaches will be discussed mas a basis for engineers to support the objectives of occupational health professionals</dc:description>
