<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Este trabajo es un intento de clarificar la relación que existe entre una política de protección medioambiental y la competitividad de las empresas. Se discute la noción de competitividad y se analizan los determinantes de la aparición de una política mediambiental y ciertas matizaciones respecto al tipo de instrumentos más adecuados en situaciones diferentes. Tampoco se olvida la enumeración de la evidencia disponible sobre los riesgos que la política medioambiental pueda suponer para la competitividad internacional</abstract>
