<subfield code="a">This paper describes laboratory studies of the performance of sprays for air movement and dust scrubbing. The experimental techniques are outlined, the theory of dust capture by water drogs is described, espcially in relation to the suppression of respirable coal dust, and experimental results are compared with theoretical calculations. Results showing the dependence of performance on operating conditions (waterflow, airflow, water pressure, spray angle, etc.) are presented in the light of general trends expected from theory</subfield>
