Sumario: The long-term effects of exposure to sized man-made glass fibres have been investigated. After instillation of a single bolus of fibres, short fibres were observed inside macrophages. In contrast, macrophages could not engulf the long fibres and the macrophages were often seen arrayed along the long fibres. Intratrachcal instillation caused formation of large granulomata which often blocked major airways
