<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Of all the 206 bones in the human body, 14 in each foot are affored protection either by the steel cap in a safety shoe or by an external toe protection device, while five larger bones are protected by a metatarsal or instep device. Thus, when wearing proper toe and instep protection, 38 vital bones are protected. Total personal protection is required for these vital limbs in any type of job, and it's available in many forms. Meantime, manufacturers, NIOSH, and NSC continue work on new Z41 standard</abstract>
