<subfield code="a">The aim of this study was to investigate whether the sedative benzodiazepines, triazolam, and flunitrazepam in particular, influence the isokinetic and isometric muscle strength performance after a standard sleeping period. The hypnotics directly improve performance it can be questioned whether they should be added to the international doping list; and, if these hypnotics suppress performance their use must not be recommended to athletes. In addition to muscle performance, blood pressure and heart-rate (cardiovascular parameters) play an important role in physical exercise. Blood pressure and heart-rate were considered as secondary parameters in the test set-up</subfield>
