Sumario: The present study aims to provide a system of breaks, including recommendations for their frequency and duration, which is justifiable in terms of work physiology. In addition, a model is described which permits determination of the transportation capacity. When calculating the logistical transportation capacity only criteria relating to the full utilization of the workers'time are considered. By contrast, the strain on the refuse collectors and the requisite rest breaks are considered in the calculation of the ergonomic transportation capacity
