[et al.]Sumario: There is much speculation and controversy about so called "ergonomic" keyboard; consequently, occupational health professionals often are asked for help. This paper is concerned with the measurement of force and how it relates to keyboard design and operator behavior. This concern is motivated by reports of upper limb disorders, which are growing causes of disability and compensation among keyboard users. Upper limb disorders also have resulted in litigation against keyboard manufacturers, which has generated considerable media attention. The mechanisms underlying these disorders are not well understood, but are generally believed to be fatigue and irritation of muscles, tendons, and nervesEn: American Industrial Hygiene Association journal. - Fairfax, Virginia. - Vol. 55, nº 1, January 1994 ; p. 30-351.
