<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Cette note présente les différents types de protecteurs individuels contre le bruit, leur domaine d'utilisation, la caractérisation de leurs performances acoustiques et d'autres facteurs tels que le confort. Elle présente également le cadre réglementaire et normatif auxquels sont soumies ces appareils. Elle apporte aussi aux usagers la réponse à certaines questions telles que la signification des divers indices d'affaiblissement, le rôle de la normalisation et de la réglementation, les garanties apportées par les labels et marques de conformité, etc. Elle fait le point sur les possibilités offertes par les différents types de protecteurs existants et dégage les critères de choix d'un protecteur individuel contre le bruit bien adapté et bien supporté. Elle aborde enfin les questions qui restent en suspents et les solutions envisagées</abstract>
