<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La unidad estratégica de negocio constituye un instrumento básico del proceso de dirección estratégica en las empresas multiactividad. Es un concepto que surge como unidad de análisis intermedia entre el nivel global y el nivel funcional de la estrategia para facilitar la planificación estratégica de las distintas actividades o negocios de una empresa. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar los planteamientos existentes en relación con las implicaciones organizativas de las unidades estratégicas de negocio, así como presentar las tendencias actuales a este respecto, destacando las nuevas necesidades de diseño organizativo a partir de una concepción estratégica de la empresa basada en las competencias y/o habilidades</abstract>
