<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Los Servicios de Extinción de Incendios y Salvamento (SEIS) españoles, hasta principios de los años 80, estaban centrados en tareas dirigidas fundamentalmente a la intervención en siniestros y catástrofes. Paulatinamente, han ido reorientando la mayor parte de sus actuaciones hacia acciones de carácter preventivo y al desarrollo de una concienciación comunitaria de colaboración con las diferentes administraciones para evitar la siniestralidad. El autor toma como referencia ilustrativa el SEIS del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona</abstract>
